TPS3703x application

Hi:

  my project use TPS3703x to achieve the power supply ov and uv montoring,For axample the montoring voltage is 3.3VDC,but VDD is 24VDC,I want to know this application is it OK?Or do you have a better solution for my application scenario? thanks

  • Hi Zhanglongc,

    If you look at the recommended operating condition for the TPS3703 Vdd pin, it can go up to maximum 5.5V.

    For your design, since you need to directly power the IC from battery, I would recommended using TPS3762, which is a 65 V input voltage supervisor with 4 μA IDD, 0.9% accuracy, fast detection time. This device can be connected directly to 12 V / 24 V.

         I sorry to tell you ,in my application D1 and D2 is 5V zeners ,Vdd nomal is 5V(5Vis from a DC24V-5V buck module),When a short circuit fault occurs between input and output,the power 5V becomes 24V,this moment D1 and D2 can

    make sure the VDD and RESENT# is 5V,So this maesure is OK?

  • Hi Zhanglongc,

    Yes, I definitely understand the purpose why you have the zener diode. But please be aware of when the fault condition happens ( when the diodes fail) TPS3703 will most likely damaged since this device can monitor low voltage rails. ( less or equal than 5.5V)

    You can find more information for the device voltage and current limitations in the recommended condition table and Electrical Characteristics table for more specifically the VDD and RESET pin.

         I have anther two questions about TPS3703 and TPS3704 .

        1.The Vdd of TPS3703 and TPS3704 between Vpor and Vdd_min,What is the status of the reset signal;

        2.we product is SIL3,using TPS3704 montoring the power supply of  TI's SOC am2432,when the power of am2432 occur OV or UV ,the TPS3704 will out reset signal to shout down the power of am2432,but during power up of the SOC ,the montoring voltage is UV state ,so the TPS3704 out reset signal to shout down the power ,the module fail to star,about this problem you have a good solution?thank;

    1. RESET pin is driven low when VDD falls below UVLO ( UVLO_min= 1.2V UVLO_max = 1.7V)

    2. I would like to share my understanding of your design in a very high level. Can you please let me know if we are on the same page. If not, please share some schematics so I can help you better. 

    And lastly, can you please let me know your all resistor and capacitor values? I just want to understand your design so that I- can provide some solutions.
