TPS61378-Q1: TPS61378-Q1 output voltage dip

Part Number: TPS61378-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

While testing TPS61378-Q1 Booster IC, come across following observations.

Booster output voltage is dipping even though Input voltage is stable and peak current limit is within the limit.

Input Voltage at the dip - 2.45 V

Input current at dip - 1.192 A

Plese find the waveform

Please find the design details,

Input voltage - 4.1 V to 2.3 V

Output Voltage - 5.2 V

Peak current limit - Set to 4.8 A

Inductor value - 0.47 uH

Mode - Auto PFM

Switching freq  =2.2 MHz

Maximum Load current = 1.5 A

Please support in understanding this issue

  • Hi Srijesh,

I think around the time around 216.7ms, the load (Iout) increase suddenly, the Vout was pulled below the Vin, the device enters into down mode.

Then the current limit became smaller then 4.8A, which may trigger the hiccup protection.

Please check the three items I marked in the following picture for further check.

    Regards

    Lei
