We have received an inquiry from a customer regarding the use of the BQ25895M Charger IC.

We would like to inquire about cases where Not Charging occurs in the Charging Status register under REG0B Register on the datasheet.

Q1) Can you please confirm cases where Not Charging (00) occurs other than the Fault Status below?

    Cases where CHRG_STAT = 00 [Not Charging] include when in battery only operation\, OTG operation, and when charge is disabled.

    Thank you for response.

    I have additional inquiries.

    If you look at the CE pin contents of the pin's description, it is explained as follows. "Battery charging is enabled when CHG_CONFIG = 1 and CE pin = Low. CE pin must be pulled High or Low."

    Q1) If Charge is disabled, is “CHG_CONFIG = 0 and CE pin = High” correct?

    Q2) When Charge enable / disable, do I need to set both CHG_CONFIG and CE pin? Or do I just need to set one of the two?

    Hi Grady, 

    To enable charge /CE pin must be low and CHG_CONFIG = 1 (i.e. enable charge requires AND logic for CE pin and register bit).

    To disable charge you only need to change the state of one of the two.
