Tool/software:

I am planning to use the UCC27531-Q1 2.5-A and 5-A, 35V MAX VDD FET and IGBT Single-Gate Driver to drive the SCT2H12NZ 1700V, 3.7A, THD, Silicon-Carbide (SiC) MOSFET in a 2-switch flyback topology. An example of my schematic is attached. Could you please help me understand if there might be any issues with this setup?

Hi serhat,

The schematic looks good to me. Just make sure you use a VDD bypass cap of at least 0.1uF and have it as close as possible to the driver. I also have a couple app notes that may assist you when using gate drivers in transformers:

Firstly, thank you for your feedback.

UCC27624

For a two-switch Flyback topology, would you recommend the UCC27624 or the UCC27531? Which one is more suitable for a Flyback application?

Additionally, in the two-switch Flyback method, I need to turn both MOSFETs on and off simultaneously. Will I encounter any issues with this approach?

Hi Serhat,

It really depends on the specs of your system. The UCC27531 has a higher VDD rating (35V) compared to the UCC27624 (30V), but the UCC27624 has higher peak currents, has more robust abs max specs, and is newer. Unless your system needs the higher VDD, I would go for the UCC27624.
