Customer want to use TPSM63606 in 4 series lithium battery system.

So input voltage max is 4 * 4.2V

To allow the battery to discharge more fully, the customer needs to be able to convert a 12V/5A power supply to the back stage steadily as the battery voltage drops to 12.5V. However, when the customer actually tested the EVM board, they found that when the input voltage dropped to 13.5V, the EVM was unable to output 12V/5A. What is the reason for this. what to do, is there another power module recommendation?

Hi Tony.

The recommended switching frequency for a 12V output is quite high with this module (to maintain a reasonable 30-50% the inductor ripple current at Vin = 24V, 36V, etc.).

However, if the Vin-max of your application is low (e.g. less than 18V), you can reduce the Fsw and improve the resultant dropout voltage (Vin minus Vout when Vout starts to fall). You can use the TPSM63606 quickstart calculator for guidance here https://www.ti.com/tool/TPSM6360XDESIGN-CALC.
