BQ40Z50-R2: The problem of the gas gauge waking up from shutdown.

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2

Tool/software:

Hi E2E,

When the gas gauge wakes up from shutdown via P+, how long does it take to read the correct RSOC?

In my tests, it takes about 6 seconds before the correct RSOC can be read. Before that, the RSOC reads as 0%.

Is there a similar "ready" flag that can be checked?

Thanks!

  • Hi Tom,

When the gauge exits shutdown, it must complete a full reset, which could be the cause of the delay you are seeing before an RSOC measurement is taken. When the gauge exits shutdown and the full reset is completed, the gauge will start taking measurements and completing calculations on a one second interval.

Regarding a bit to watch to see when the gauge is active, I believe the INIT bit can be watched to see the initialization after a full reset.

    Regards,
