Hi Team,

My customer is evaluating TPS92692-Q1 in their project, could you please help give some comments for below questions?

When the customer is using the TPS92692 as a BOOST topology architecture, there are some issues with the PMOS selection on the output side, as shown in Q1 in the following figure.

The customer would like to know how long does the voltage of the CSP-CSN trigger the OCP to the PDRV shutdown PMOS during the output short circuit to ground? The purpose of this question is that customers in selecting this PMOS, PMOS needs to withstand this short circuit current in the time between output short circuit to IC off,

The current design requirement is an output current of 200mA and an output voltage of 35V.

They should use a 1A FET which can handle the 200mA continuous and peak current for a short.

May I ask how did we reach the conclusion of 1A? The customer is wondering what the transient current is from a short circuit to a shut down, and whether it can meet the SOA range of their MOS.

This is a design decision and from experience. They can use either 500mA or 1A FET to be safe. It's up to them. They can look at the FET and it's peak current handling and figure out how much capacitance they have on the output and test their short circuit to verify.
