LM5148: LM5148 Current limiting protection issue

Part Number: LM5148

Tool/software:

Hi TI's engineers,

We use TI's buck controller LM5148 and we want to configure it as 15A
Output current, but no matter how we change R176 and C267, they are all under 8A~9A current limiting protection. Please help take a look at this issue, thank you

  • Hello Vayne,

Please go ahead and fill out the calc spreadsheet link below with your spec, let's check your design against the recommended values in the calc spreadsheet.

Also, layout is critical making sure that the sense lines back to the device is routed differentially.

    Hope this helps.

    David.

  • Hi David,

    Thank you for your reply.

However, my expression was not very clear, so I will explain it again.

    Have you seen our schematic?

What I mean is, I want to use a resistor and capacitor connected in parallel with an inductor to set the overcurrent protection point, but no matter how I adjust the value, it cannot reach 15A. Our actual load is around 12A, but now his setting at 8-9A will cause overcurrent protection and cannot be improved

The tool table you provided me cannot be used directly because our designs are different. Please refer to the schematic diagram.

  • Hello Vayne,

Understood, I wanted to check your design against your specification.  Go ahead and fill out the calculator spreadsheet so I can make sure your design is good.  After that we can drill down into the layout if needed.

    Thanks.

    David.
