TPS62088: Alternative for TPS6208833YFPT without active output discharge

Part Number: TPS62088

Tool/software:

Hi. I tested the TPS62088 but I recognized the active output discharge feature. This isn't useful for me because I want to combine the circuit with a LDO so safe battery energy.
Is there an (compatible) alternative with same performance in efficiency and similar operating quiescent current?

  • Hello Tobias,

most of our newer and recommend parts have the active output discharge feature implemented. Some very old products don't have active discharge, but they would not have comparable efficiency and quiescence current.

If you plan to combine your design with an LDO to allow operation at or below Vin of 3.3V then the TPS6208 can operate in 100% duty cycle mode with permanent enabled high side FET. This would allow to pass through Vin at small RDS_on drop. This would work down to the undervoltage lockout threshold of ca. 2.2V.

Could you please provide more details on how and why you want to combine the design with an LDO, and why the discharge feature is of disadvantage in this combination?

    Best regards,

    Andreas.
