BQ500211EVM-045 alternative?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ500211

Hi,

I have seen the BQ500211EVM-045 is "limited". As we are no big customers, I guess it will be difficult for us to get one. Also, we would be interested to handle the coil separately, i.e. we would be manily interested in the part where the components reside. One way would be to make a PCB from the Gerbers, but we can´t find them on the TI web site. Where is this available?

Alternatively, are there other solutions which incorporate the 5V chip?

Kind regards, Claus

  • The restriction on the bq500211 EVM have be removed and unit is available at the TI eStore.

PCB gerbers are available, I will add them to the EVM product folder.

Other solutions that incorporate the 5V chip? – what type of solution are you thinking of?

  • Dear Bill,

thanx for the info about availability, good to hear. Our application requieres a smaller form factor (like the size of only the component part of the PCB) with an independent (not on pcb) coil and I guess this should be quite common for other users too. So I hoped some might have made a PCB with a smaller form factor and an independent coil. As there are no answers I suppose this is not the case....

I am using eagle, would you recommend building the board from scratch, trying to imitate the routing from the gerbers, or would you try to edit the gerbers in order to achieve a "component-only" version of the evm board? I have never edited gerbers directly.

Ultimately, would cutting the evm be an option? Between components and coil there is only a ground connection, but cutting a 4 layer board might have unwanted side effects ....

The gerbers will show up here http://www.ti.com/tool/bq500211evm-045 right? When, approximately?

    Kind regards, Claus
