Hi I notice that this TPS61020 lower input voltage has higher efficiency than high input voltage, is this reasonable.

if this is correct, why other TPS610xx family have reverse result.

the waveform is at VOUT=1.8V and VIN=1.8V. the device could enter down mode if VIN is equal or higher than VOUT. the efficiency is not good at down mode.

what is input and output voltage in your application?

thank you for your prompt reply, we use 1.5V input, 3.8V output, but we couldn't find a close chart of 61020 at 3.8V.

the efficiency of TPS61025 (3.3V) and TPS61027 (5V) is the same as TPS61020 at the VOUT=3.3V and 5V condition.

what is the output current in your application? is the input power a alkaline battery? i can check if there is better device.

peak current should less than 300mA. input is a AAA alkaline battery. we select this one is because the lower quiescent current.

if you can find a equivalent or better one, that will be greet.

for 300mA output current and a alkaline battery input, TPS61029 is the only solution right now.

we are designing next generation of TPS61020, named TPS61021, the performance would be better. this device will release to market next year, so now you can only get more information of this part through local TI FAE if you are interesting in this device.

is this new chip a drop in replacement of 61020, if true, then we can replace it any time once it is released.

unfortunately, they are not pin2pin device. and some the functionality is not the same. just target the similar application field. one or two cell battery to power several hundred mili-Amp for RF PA or other load.

if this chip has better performance, once it is released we can always update our design. you guys should work hard to deliver it as early as possible.
