Changing Ethernet Circuit to PoE TPS23750

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23750

This is the original Circuit from Ti Crypto Connected Launchpad.

I want to modify this circuit to PoE (with TPS23750):

Do i need the Capacitors C36 amd C38 ?

Is it ok to connect the Shield of RJ45 connector over 1MOhm/4700pF to GND or should i connect it to VSS of the TPS23750 ?

I use the PoE example PMP5592.

Thank you

  • Hi Simon,

C36/C38 connections should be connected based on what the PHY you connected recommends in its datasheet. It typically shows how it should be implemented on the data side of the data transformer.

If you have a true earth ground in your system, you can connect the 1M/4700pF components to earth ground. Otherwise, the secondary should be okay. It is not recommended to connect to VSS.
