UC28023: UC28023 Clock Pin Characteristics Confusion

Hello,

I am considering using this controller IC UC28023, but I need to be able to drive a synchronization clock to the device. In the electrical characteristics section it specifies it only as an output pin.

In another section it says that the clock pins can be tied together on two close devices, implying that the pin is not just an output.

I was wondering if I could get some clarity on the Clock pin characteristics, as to whether it can actually be an input as well, and if so, what are those characteristics?

Hi Kevin,

Clock pin is the output of the internal oscillator and also the input of the other functional blocks of the device. If two or more devices are synchronized with external clock as shown in Fig. 13, the clock generated by the oscillator circuit of the master device (shown in Fig. 9) is also used to drive the slave device. In this case, the oscillator circuit of the slave device is bypassed.

OK Thanks. I was concerned of damaging it if it was used this way since it was listed as an output.
