LM2765: LM2765 diode

Part Number: LM2765

Hi All,

What kind of diode should be chosen between the input and output of LM2765.Now I put a 4148,the input is 4.2V,output is 4.9V.If there no diode between input and output, output would be 8.4V.

How about that? If the diode is necessary? If yes, how could I choose the type of diode?

       I used 10uF cap instead of 3.3uF.

       Thx!

  • Hi user4363042,

A schottky diode such as 1N5817 can be used for most applications. If the input voltage ramp is less than 10 V/ms, a smaller schottky diode such as MBR0520LT1 can be used to reduce the circuit size.

Diode is needed for startup. Internal oscillator is powered via OUT pin, so there has to be voltage higher than 1.8V to ensure the operation of the oscillator in start-up.

With 4.2V input voltage 1N4148 should work also. 4.9V output voltage is 0.7V (diode forward voltage) higher than input. Please make sure you have connected the diode in correct polarity.
