BQ24765: BQ24765

Part Number: BQ24765

The Battery-Charger-IC-Products selection page shows the BQ24765 is used with 2 to 4 Lithium cells.  The data sheet also indicates the same 2 to 4 cell criteria. The part description shows the Battery Charge Minumum Voltage to be 1.024 volts.  That would seem to indicate the BQ24765 could also be set up to charge 1 Lithium Cell.  In addition, at the bottom of page 1 of the BQ24765EVM user's guide, I see that the EVM Features includes User selectable 1 cell, 2 cell, 3 cell, and 4 cell.

Can the BQ24765 be used to control charge into 1 Lithium cell as well as the 2 to 4 in the data sheet?

  • bq24765 is not good for 1 Li-ion battery. The short protection is a 3.6V level and 2.5V level.
The bq24765 includes a foldback current limit when the battery voltage is low. If the battery voltage is less than 3.6 V but above 2.5 V, any charge current limit above 3 A will be clamped at 3 A. If the battery voltage is less than 2.5 V, the charge current is set to 220 mA until that voltage rises above 2.7 V.
