TL750M: Fixing the voltage at the output pin while leaving the input pin floating.

Part Number: TL750M

I have the  TL750M05 soldered to a board along with other components. What happens if I fix the output pin to about 5V, connect the common pin to board ground and leave the input pin floating? . Would the chip be damaged and how much current would it draw?

  • Hi Uriel,

If you float the input it may be pulled up through a parasitic path, but will only draw current until the input is charged. Although doing this should not hurt the device it is not recommended. If you are going to do this I would recommend building a test board and see if it behaves the way you are expecting.

You will also have current draw through the output resistor divider, but this should be a minimal amount of current.

    Regards,
