I have problem with the stress test of TPS54232D.
Vin is 15V, Vout is 12V.

For stress test when I connect a light load 10Ohms at the output, current consumption is 600mA and output voltage drops to 8V. But in datasheet it is written that it can handle upto 2A current.

For testing on low loads I disconnect the L405 and place a 10Ohms load at Vout_12VReg (Parallel with C403). This cause drop in output voltage.

Have you tried to increase the input voltage? I am concerned that the device is limit by max duty. Thanks!

Actually I have tried to increase the voltage level just to check if it is the problem. But I dont see this issue should be there with 3.3V Output for 15V input where we have enough difference in input and output voltage. It is same for the 3.3V output for 15V input.

Is it possible that you can check this issue with the regulator. I cant understand why we regulator is limiting the output current, it states in datasheet that it should provide 2A output current but in this configuration it is limited. Can you provide me detail on your measurement setup for the maximum output current measurement?

Hi Raja,

I am lost here. In your first post, you condition is Vin=15V to Vout=12V. But in your last post, you mentioned that Vin=15V and Vout=3.3V. Which condition you found issue? Please clarify it. From my judgement, the current limit should not be hit for your condition for 10uH inductor.

Hi!

I have problem with both Vin 15V and Vout 12V regulator and also the same for Vin 15V and Vout 3.3 with the same regulator. It was answer to your question that might be problem with small difference in input and output voltage.

I got 1.7V for 3.3V so it is significant as well!

Another thing with Vin 15V and Vout 12V is, when I remove the capacitance C411 on SS Pin, then voltage drop is even more significant. I get 4.5V without C411 on SS pin and it goes to 8V when I put the capacitor on SS Pin.

Hi Raja,

In this case, I would like you to first check on the current limit for your input power supply to see whether it hit current limit. Second, you could check on SW node voltage to see whether it enters hiccup. And please also check on the case temp to see whether the IC is overheat. You could also try to use a bigger SS cap like 22nf to see whether the output voltage will be good.

Please also let me know the RC network for comp pin. Maybe we need to check on stability.
