UCC25630-1EVM-291: The maximum output power capability of this EVM board

Hi Team,

This EVM is default 12VOUT and 10A.

I have deliver the EVM to customer, they want to know the maximum output power capability.

What they want is about 250W, is it available?

    Thanks for your interest in UCC25630EVM. This EVM was designed for a maximum output power of 120W. We currently do not have an orderable UCC25630x EVM that can support 250W.

    One possibility is take the design files from an existing reference design and build it for evaluation. PMP20795 is a 288W LLC Converter design using UCC256301:www.ti.com/.../PMP20795

    For current board, the limitation of maximum output power is from MOS and transformer?
    I am not familiar with AC/DC design. If I want to upgrade the power, I need to change the related components to corresponding power level, are the schematic the same?

    This is a large jump in output power from the intended design and would be a somewhat large undertaking if you wanted to modify an existing UCC2560EVM to support 250W. What makes this difficult is new, custom-designed magnetics will be needed (L1 and T1). The rectifying diodes will run hotter so a fan might be needed or modify the board to have synchronous rectification. New magnetics will impact the power stage gain and modifications to the compensation network might also be necessary.

    I think an easier approach is to build a few PMP20795 boards for testing as it is already designed for the power range you are interested in.
