TPS22860: TPS22860 and pull down on VOUT

Hello,

On my board, i have a supply line that can be also used as an external output voltage. I'm using a TPS22860 to protect this line. But i have residual voltage remaining on VOUT line when i'm setting off the TPS22860 and i don't know why. This residual voltage implies some current consumption on the load put after my TPS22860. Do you think i can put a pull down resistor on VOUT (in red on my scheme) ?

If you think there is a better component for my application don't hesitate to share ?

Hi user,

The TPS22860 does not have the QOD (quick output discharge) feature that some of our other load switches have. Therefore, the output of the switch is left floating when turned off, rather than being pulled down to ground. While adding a pulldown resistor will work, it will also increase power dissipation when the switch is on. The TPS22917 is a good replacement for this device, and it has the QOD feature built in.

Hi Alek,

Thank you very much for your quick answer. The TPS22917 is out of stock on mouser maybe the TPS22918 could fit. I will try this component as soon as possible. In the meantime, i have tried to pull down the VOUT line with a 100K resistor but unfortunaly my VOUT stays high (3.3V) and i have a constant current consumption of 30uA ... (ON pin is set OFF : low level) :/

Hi Aurélien,

I believe the TPS22918 should be able to help with your application. 30uA of current seems like a high amount of leakage, and with the TPS22918 you will not reach those kinds of values.
