UCC29950: dimming

Part Number: UCC29950
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01464

8 months ago someone asked about the dimming of UCC29950. Did the question answered? What is the solution?

How to dimm 100-200W LEDs driven by UCC29950 controller? My design goal is the development of a dimmable ~200W (42V, 4,2A) LED driver (with PFC).

What TI controller could be the best for this purpose? EVB, reference design preferred :)

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Hi user5222853,

Thanks for your interest in UCC29950. Typically dimming is done on the secondary side. The measured current (typically through a current sense resistor to convert the current to a voltage signal for example) is compared to a voltage reference. By adjusting the reference voltage, you can adjust the current regulation set point of the converter.

I don't have a specific LED design with UCC29950 but I would suggest taking a look at TIDA-01464. It's a 200W CCM PFC + two switch flyback LED lighting design capable of 0-10V dimming. www.ti.com/.../TIDA-01464
