BQ24650: Charging 1s5p Li-ion 18650 battery pack requirements;

Part Number: BQ24650

Hi,

I am considering to employ BQ24650 for charging a Li-ion 18650 battery pack of 1s5p configuration using a solar panel as input source.

Each of 18650 is of 2600mAh capacity, so charging the 13000mAh battery pack at 0.2C I require a charge current of at least 2.6A and

a maximum charge current limit of 5A.

I have the following quarries;

Q1. Is BQ24650 suitable for a battery pack of 1s5p configuration (Capacity of 13000mAh and Vout=4.2V) ?

The data-sheet of Bq24650 mentions about Icharge maximum under section 8.3.3, which depends on the value of the sense resistors.

Q2. What is the criteria to continuously maintain minimum 2.6A Icharge current during CC mode operation of the BQ24650?

Thanks and regards

Swaroop
