BQ76200: To drive 24 CHG FET+24 DSG FET

Part Number: BQ76200

Hello,

My customer wants to know if it is possible to use multiple BQ76200 in parallel to enlarge the driving capability to drive 24 CHG FET and 24 DSG FET.

The total battery voltage is 24V and peak discharge current is 350A.

Attached FET's data sheet.TK100E10N1_datasheet_en_20121030.pdf

Best regards,

Victor

  • Hi Victor,
The parts have no way to synchronize timing between the devices, the input thresholds may vary part to part as well as the delay and output resistances.
The outputs should not be connected together since they might fight each other if the timings don't match. If one device turned off putting the other into a UVLO condition it may take significant time for the charge pump to recover.
The inputs could be connected together but since the outputs would not be synchronized the result may be that one group of the FETs could have more or all of the system current during turn on or turn off.
The part can drive many FETs but the fixed internal resistance does slow switching as the FETs increase as shown in the test results in the FET Configurations apnote. The system designer must determine what is suitable for their system. I suspect a purpose built circuit may be more suitable for 24 parallel FETs.
