TPS2812: Typical application circuit

Part Number: TPS2812
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2816,

I am using this IC to drive a MOSFET. When I check the datasheet there is a application circuit. But this circuit does not use the internal voltage regulator. I was wonder if someone can provide a typical application circuit using the internal voltage regulator?

Thank you.

  • Hi Satya,

Thanks for asking about the internal regulator on TPS2812. You can find the typical application schematic on page 13 and in figure 22 on the next page in a similar datasheet for TPS2816 family http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps2829-q1.pdf

When using the regulator, a voltage >14 is applied to VDD. VCC outputs a 11.5V nominal 20mA max for the driver and external circuitry

When not using the regulator, tie VDD LDO input to VCC driver supply and apply less than 14v to VCC. Grounding VDD will burn the driver since there is a discharge diode to protect LDO in case VDD is removed or LDO out is greater than LDO in.

Remember the correct bias capacitors close to the device to allow for a stable driver output. Let me know if you need more help understanding this internal regulator.

    Thanks,
