TPS40061: Max Voltage Rating vs Absolute Voltage Rating

Hello Team,

We are looking for a device that has a wide input voltage range and had a question on the TPS40061. It was used in a PoE reference design and the MAX Vin is 55V, but absolute max is 60V. Specs are to design up to 57V input.

Will this device be ok for this?
Do we have another device that would be better?
What is your overall recommendation

Ramon,

57V seems too close to 60V. Especially considering the datasheet says the operating voltage is up to 55V. I would recommend a part with a higher VIN spec.

If you're looking for something with similar current capability and is also voltage-mode control, go with LM5145.

If you're looking for something with similar current capability but current-mode control, go with LM5141.

If you're looking for something with less current capability and simpler design, go with LM5007.
