BQ24079: What is the regulated output voltage when battery charging

Hi,

Another question for BQ24079. The datasheet specify the OUT pin voltage regulation Vo(REG) is 5.5V. But we see 4.3V at output when a battery is installed and the device powered by USB. Without battery installed, the output is 5V, which is same as Vin. So, what voltage should I expect from OUT pin when battery is installed?

Hello Jeff,
Vo(REG) should be about 5V if there is no load on OUT. The presence of a battery shouldn't affect this. You seem to be hitting the DPPM voltage which is 4.3V. Do you see any reduction in charge current and is there a load on OUT?

Yes, we have load at OUT. it is about 100mA. but I don't know if the charge current reduced.

Hello,
Please make sure you're using the BQ24079. There are other devices in the product family that have Vo(REG) = 4.4V. It is possible that there has been a mix-up.
