LM5109B-Q1: Recommended bias supply, what if less than 8V but more than 7.4V, which is max UVLO

Hi Team,

Customer is looking for auto HB gate driver which is capable of Vin_min=7.5V, system operating voltage. 

LM5109B-Q1 is good for candidate, but recommended operating range is 8V to 14V, but I think max UVLO is 7.4 in spec, so UVLO does not hit when the system is operating at Vin=7.5V. 

But I would like to know if VDD is less than 8V but over 7.4V, the device works or any de-rating? Regards, ny

    Hi NY,

    Thank for your considering this part for the customer. My name is Mamadou Diallo and I will work to address your concern.

    To ensure optimum performance by the device, you want to make sure the device is operating as specified in the recommended operating conditions (>8V).

    Additionally, you're correct in that UVLO is spec'ed at 7.4V max but it is generally not a good idea to operate the device so close to the boundaries. You want to give Vdd enough margin for any capacitance shift that may occur during switching cycles.

    Have you considered UCC27212A-Q1 as an alternative device for the customer?

    It has slightly lower Vdd (7V min) and UVLO at 6.4V max, however with an internal boot diode already incorporated.
