LM5032: Boost Interleaved converter current sharing

Part Number: LM5032

Dear all,

I have seen one module made using this LM5032 for Boost interleaved. and it worked.

Can anyone tell me if this balance current in both power stages.

It has separate current sense line and separate driver control unit. Only feedback is same.

Kindly confirm, and if Yes, how it will balance current?.

  • Hello Vikas,
Yes the currents are balanced in each stage if you configure the part for interleaved operation.
It can do this because the PWM drive is terminated when the current sensed reaches the voltage set by the error signal.
The error signal is common to both phases and this makes the currents in each loop the same.

  • Dear John,

As you said, in second line: "When current sensed reaches the voltage set by error signal", but here as we know current sense are separate.

Even the Error signal is same for both channels, but duty cycle may vary because of separate Current sensing.

Both are balanced only when both current are compared to other and duty cycle is corrected with this sensing( if i am wrong here, please let me know).

If you have any other point of view, kindly share reference schematic. It will help.

    Thanks for help.

  • Dear John,
You have not provided solution i asked.
Close it if you want, it is your decision(one sided).

I still needs answer, if you are unable to provide, please let other people answer.
And if no one has solution, at least comment. so i will move forward.
