TPS2543: Discharge Function

Part Number: TPS2543

Hi Team,

I have questions about discharge function as below. Could you support?

Q1: Figure38. on D/S mentioned "Not SDP1", "Not CDP Or SDP2" and "Not SDP2 Or CDP" routes back to Discharge block. Does these comments mean failuer hand-shake between TPS2543's CTL setting and device?

Q2:  When following condition is applied, does discharge function work? Is there other conditions?

 1. EN pin: Hi -> Low

    2. UVLO

    3. CTL1-3: (000)

    4. POR

Regards,

Kotaro Yamashita

  • Hi Kotaro,
    A1: We also need to consider the DCP mode
    A2: The discharge function works under the for condition you said, in addition to, the discharge function also works during the CTL switching(mode switch)

  • Hi Kevin,

    Q1-1: DCH flow from SDP1, CDP and CDP2
    Do "Not SDP1", "Not CDP Or SDP2" and "Not SDP2 Or CDP" mean failur of hand-shake?

    Q1-2: DCH flow from DCP
    What does "DCH/SDP/CDP" flow on Figure 38 mean?

    Q2: Thanks. I understood.

    Regards,
    Kotaro Yamashita
  • Hi Kotaro Yamashita,
    A1-1: when reset, it will flow to SDP1,CDP,SDP2,DCP Forced, DCP_auto. If none of these cases is identified, mean failure of hand-shake. Sure, you said "Not SDP1", "Not CDP Or SDP2" and "Not SDP2 Or CDP" means failure this hand-shake failure.
    A1-2: DCH/SDP/CDP means "NOT DCP" or "NOT DCP Auto"

  • Hi Kevin,

    Thanks. Let me clarify;

    1. When mode is CDP, if I select change CTL1-3 as 1110(SDP2), the flow is:
    CDP -> SDP2 (without DCH)

    2. When mode is SDP2, if I select change CTL1-3 as 110x(SDP1), the flow is:
    SDP2 -> Not SDP2 Or CDP -> Discharge -> DCH Done -> Sample CTL Pins -> SDP1

    3. When mode is DCP Auto, if I change CTL1-3 as 1110(SDP2), the flow is:
    DCP Auto -> DCH/SDP/CDP -> Discharge -> DCH Done -> Sample CTL Pins -> SDP2

    Is my understanding correct?

    Regards,
    Kotaro Yamashita
  • Hi Kotaro Yamashita,
    sorry for late reply, your understanding is right.
