UCC28730-Q1: UCC28700-Q1 Negartive Voltage

Part Number: UCC28730-Q1

Dear TI Team,

I am designing with UCC28730-Q1.
I would like to design with the following specifications, but I need a guide for transformers.
The specifications we will design are as follows.
▣ SPEC:
        - Input: 85 ~ 265Vac / 60Hz
        - Output: + 12V / 0.4A (4.8W), -12V / 0.1A (1.2W)
                      = 4.8 W + 1.2 W = 6 W

In Webench, only Positive is designed.
Are you able to get the specifications of circuit and transformer for the above specification?

Thanks.

  • Hello Chun,

Webench is a limited and automated tool. There is a link that will bring you to an excel design tool. It is for a single output; however, you can use the information for a dual output design. www.ti.com/.../sluc579

Enter in you input voltage and make the output power 6W for a single 12V output. This will give you the transformer primary magnetizing inductance and the primary to secondary turns ratio (Np/Ns). The turns ratio for the Vin to -12 is the same for Vin to +12 V.

Under certain conditions if one output is not loaded the other output will be capable of delivering the full 6W. So the peak currents and RMS currents on the secondary will be accurate worst case.

    Regards,

    Mike
