Hi,

On a laptop product, the USB type-A connector will be place on a daughter card with 190mm FFC cable connected to the system main board.  Where would you suggest to implement TPS2544?  On daughter card closed to USB connector or on the system main board?  The total USB data length would be around 77600mils and the max current rating from this port on VBUS is around 2.1A.

    Hi Antony,

    I would recommend putting the TPS2544 on the daughter card, close to the USB port. The only thing that I'm worried about, is the signal integrity with a trace length that long. It may not be a problem, but I would suggest possibly adding in a USB2.0 signal conditioner like the TUSB217 on the main board. Connection would be
    USB Port --> TPS2544 --> TUSB217 --> EC
    It may not be necessary, but having that option would be helpful and could potentially remove some frustration/debugging in the future.
