UCC21520EVM-286: UCC21520EVM-286

Part Number: UCC21520EVM-286

Hi,

I am trying to use UCC21520EVM-286 paralleling the channels, supplying VDDA and VDDB through a single power supply with a negative bias and parallel outputs VOUTA, VOUTB to drive two IGBT transistors connected as a bi-directional AC switch.
When I connect J-INA pin 2 and J-INB pin 2 together, the output VOUTA,VOUTB switches off.
I tried to find out what I am doing wrong in paralleling the channels without any success. Please help.

  • Hi Dimitar,

Thank you for your question. I work on the applications team in the high power drivers group.

It sounds like the DT circuit is configured to prevent overlap. You will need to tie the DT pin to VCC to allow both outputs to be on at the same time. You should move the jumper to short pins 1 and 2 of J-DT. Please see the user guide linked below - this configuration is listed in Table 2. Jumpers Settings, under J-DT, option B.

  • Hi John,

Thank you very much for your help.I made the both channels to overlap (to be in phase).
The DT jumper position was on pins 1 and 2.
Amazingly it starts working when I set the jumper DT on pins 2 and 3. This is something that is opposite to the explanation in the documentation.
Anyway I achieved what I want. I'll look for the mismatch later.

    Besr regards,

    Dimitar
