TPS2511: Portable device can not sick current as current limit setting

Part Number: TPS2511

Hi Team,

The ILIM_SET is 2A (Riset is 24.9K), but Android phone and I phone can only sink 0.8A, and IPAD can only sink 1.3A.

Our customer use original cable, and the voltage at TPS2511 OUT is 5.5V.

Please help to check this, thank you.

  • Hello,

If the TPS2511 is outputting too low of current, it could be that the device attached is only pulling the current you are seeing. The devices being charged can pull up to a certain maximum but depending on where they are during their charging, they may not pull as much current.

If you scope the DP/DM pins, are you seeing that the device is in divider 2?

Also, there are a few schematic changes that could be made in order to achieve peak performance from the part:

    - EN needs a 100k pull up resistor, as it is open drain

    - OUT needs at least 22 uF of capacitance on it

    Thanks,

    Emma
