Hello team,
My customer is seeing some issues with the NFET High Side Driver BQ76200 in their design. They are seeing Discharge FETs unexpectedly turned off as the temperature of the FETs rises (around 65C). And sometimes this kills the FETs if the load current is very high. They are driving 4 NFETs (IRL7472L1TRPBF) and found out the problem when loading 120A. Later in the lab, they could see Vgs dropping from around 10.5V to 8V (and then hits UVLO) as temperature rises. The customer was able to produce this with a 20A load and blowing hot air to the FETs.
Calculation for Cvddcp of 4.7uF show that this be plenty for the 4 FETs that are being driven. I can send schematics if needed.
Thank you for your support!
Errol
Hi Errol,
Can you go ahead and send the schematic? Are they also using the BQ78350 in their design or any other device with over-temperature protections?
Thanks,
Matt
