UCC2895: Request for Glitch Removal from Gate

Part Number: UCC2895

Hello

I Using UCC2895DW for DC-DC

As the load increases, glitches occur on the gate.

Yello : Q15Vgs(HIGHSIDE)

Pink : Q15Ids(HIGHSIDE)

Blue : Q19Vgs(LOWSIDE)

Green : Q19Ids(LOWSIDE)

I attached Schematic file.

SW FET.PDFPWM IC.PDF

IXFH170N10P  is changed to IFXH170N25X3.

Can you provide a solution to removal the above glitches?

Best Regards.

  • Hello Louis

You are using IXYS gate drivers so I cannot comment on them other than to say that a quick look at their datasheet indicates that you are using them correctly but I would advise you to talk to IXYS directly to confirm this.

The gate rise times seem very long - the driver should be able to charge the gate much faster than this - you should check the value of gate driver resistor you are using. You should also compare the waveform at the gate driver output with that at the gate to see whether the gate driver or the resistor is the cause of the problem.

The high frequency oscillations are almost certainly due to problems with the layout of the power stage and driver. Please check the layout, and especially the grounding connections. You should talk to IXYX for their recommendations.

You should check the output waveform at the UCC2895 - my comments about grounding apply to the circuit around the UCC2895 too.

  • Hi Colin

    Thanks for your support.

    one more question,

Is there a list of side effects for UCC2895?

If you have, provide to me.

    Best regards.

  • Hi Louis

I am not aware of any specific list of side effects on the UCC2895 however there are several additional documents on the 'Technical documentation' tab on the product page - http://www.ti.com/product/UCC2895/technicaldocuments

I'd be happy to try to answer any specific questions you may have.

    Regards

    Colin

  • Hi Louis

I haven't heard back from you so I'm closing this post. You can open a new post or a linked post if you have further questions.
