LMG3410R050: Free Wheeling Diode for CCM PFC with LMG3410

Hi

 

Our GaN devices doesn’t have body diode so I think that freewheeling diode is required for CCM PFC design.

Is my understanding correct ?

 

If yes, would your recommendation for freewheeling diode SiC diode ?

    Thanks for the question! 

    You're correct - GaN does not have a body diode, eliminating reverse recovery loss. 

    I encourage you to check out this app note, which explains the diode-like behavior of GaN in reverse current conduction with specific examples for a CCM PFC.
