LP87561-Q1: Load current measures/sharing

Part Number: LP87561-Q1

I'm operating the PMIC in 4-Phase configuration(single output). The measurements via the I2C registers is listed below. As indicated, most of the current is from BUCK0(2.78A). I was expecting the 4 bucks to share the current load equally.

Should the current be equally shared?

Power State:

Input: 12.1V

PMIC 1 (LP875610) - Connected

[ OK ] Clock

[ OK ] Temperature

[ OK ] Overvoltage

[ OK ] 0: 0.850V, 2.780A

[ OK ] 1: 0.850V, 0.740A

[ OK ] 2: 0.850V, 0.760A

[ OK ] 3: 0.850V, 0.660A

  • Hi Jeff,

Yes, load is shared equally but as described in datasheet section 8.3.1.5. master BUCK0 will show all BUCK's current summed up. So BUCK0 presents total output current.

    BUCK0 current 2.78 A / 4 = 0.695 A which is average between all the BUCK's.
