LM2743: LM2743

Part Number: LM2743

Hi Team,

My customer considering the use of LM2743 voltage controller for their space based systems.

This product is automotive grade, thus not guaranteed for space radiation. For hardening it to space radiation they would like to place two serial resistors to the supply nodes of the chip. In case of latchup, these resistors will limit the current and voltage, thus will make it non-destructive.

I will appreciate if technical expert, will review this circuit, comment on any potential issues, and recommend on improvements.

Thanks,

Shlomi

The circuit has a few issues that we'll need to take care of.

    1) The BOOT pin and boot-strap capacitor need to have a diode from VCC feeding them and should not have a resistor to VIN, which would discharge the boot-strap capacitor when the high-side FET turns on.

    2) There should be more than 1uF of input capacitors to support the AC ripple current on the input.  A pulse of 4A for upto 1.33us will draw 5.33uC of charge from the input, to keep the input ripple current to less than 250mV, I would recommend a minimum of 22uF input capacitance, accounting for DC bias reduction in Cout.

    3) By moving the 2.1k + 3.3nF feedback R-C connection from VOUT to the resistor divider, you've actually shorted it out, so it should be connected to VOUT.  If you need to have resistance between the capacitor and VOUT, we can swap the R and C, but shorting them out will nullify most of the compensation network.
