BQ76930: 6S schematic review

Part Number: BQ76930

Hi,

Attached is the schematic for a 6S design.  Can you give it a schematic review?

Thanks!

Erik

  • Hi Erik,

I reviewed the schematic and it looks good. It looks like the application will not measure current and will not use the BQ76930 to control FETs. It may not be necessary, but I recommend a 500k pulldown resistor and a 470pF capacitor on the Alert pin - this pin is very sensitive to noise and these components can prevent a false Alert override protection to be detected. When the Alert_OVRD fault occurs, the device will attempt to turn off both FETs and will drive the Alert pin high until the fault is cleared by the MCU.

On the BQ76930, a source follower circuit is typically used for the REGSRC pin, but in this case the voltage should be low enough with 6 cells to stay below the 25V maximum recommended voltage on this pin.

    Best regards,

    Matt
