TPS92512HV: TPS92512 Reduce output current at high temp.

Dear Sir/Ms.

My customer asked me if the action of TPS92512HV OTP is whether the chip temperature reaches 165 degrees, it will be turned off directly (100%→0%), or the current will decrease proportionally (100%→??%→??%→0%) What? I remember that TI’s ICs stop output directly.
And will TPS92512HV reduce the output current if the temperature is too high? A bit similar to the action mechanism of TPS92630.

Hello,

The TPS92512HV will just turn off when it hits that temperature. An added circuit can be place externally with an NTC if foldback is desired.

May I ask if TPS92512HV has the characteristic that the temperature rises and lowers the output current? Because the customer sees this phenomenon, the customer thinks that it has touched the OTP.

If you need some information (eg. sch.) to judge, I can ask the customer for it, and the customer should give it to me.

Hello,

It does not have temperature foldback function. If the current at the output is dropping (this needs to be measured) something else in the design is causing the current to fall such as the inductor is beginning to saturate. If the light output is dropping this happens when LEDs are run hot.
