BQ27520-G4: Proper gauge IC with same as function as BQ27520-G4 supports system power voltage

Our customer are looking for a battery fuel gauge IC to be used in a new product. .
They have adopted BQ27520-G4 for current system..
and understand it cannot support flash writing at the case of 2.5V system power supply voltage..
Could you introduce a suitable product with the following specifications or good solution ?

・System side power supply voltage: 2.5V (generated by LDO, accuracy ±1%)

・Battery: Li-Ion series single cell 2500mAh 3.7V

・I2C interface

・Same function as BQ27520-G4

Hello Tohru-san,

Unfortunately our gas gauges require 2.5 volts minimum to write to flash.

You could take a look at our non flash gas gauges, bq274xx and bq276xx for gauging operation without worrying about the 2.5V threshold.

My customer is asking us following possibility for BQ27520-G4.

In their assembly line , they will write battery characteristic data in to flash memory with 3V initially.

If internal flash memory is not required in normal gauging operation, 3V voltage would not be mandatory after writing battery characteristic data in it.

My understanding is that flash writing is needed for its normal operation like storing condition data by CPU and flash data update.

3V Is required for its gauging operation in order to avoid the problem of battery level monitoring.

Is my understanding correct ?

Hello Shota-san,

Please check if the 3 volt voltage level will droop on their board.

Do they see flash issues currently?

No. they are checking possibility of BQ27520-G4 operation without 3V for their new model by writing flash data in advance.

Hello Sakuma-san,

Yes, the minimum operation is best kept above 3 volts. What I was referring to was making sure that the 20 mA current draw for flash erase and write will not cause the voltage to dip below this threshold.
