TPS3801: Is it allowed to continuously supply TPS3801-01 with 5VDC?

Hello

Is it allowed to continuously supply TPS3801-01 with 5VDC? The abs. max is 7VDC, recommended is 4V max. Other devices from the family are recommended up to 6VDC. What is the reason for this?

Hi Robin,

You should be able to operate at 5V, but it is recommended up to 4V which means the specs may not apply. The reason is because of the difference between the threshold voltage (bandgap) and the Vin being quite wide.
