BQ30Z554-R1: Does the device support Packet Error Checking?

Hello,

I can see from the block diagram in the datasheet that the device has a SMBus 1.1 interface (system management bus) but I cannot find in either the datasheet or the Technical Reference Manual if the device supports packet error checking.

I downloaded the SMBus 1.1 standard:

and it says "Version 1.1 of SMBus introduces a Packet Error Checking mechanism to improve reliability and communication robustness. Implementation of Packet Error Checking by SMBus devices is optional." Does this device support packet error checking?

Hi John,

Yes, it does look like this device does support PEC. See the SpecificationInfo register in the Technical Reference Manual.

The PEC is optional - if the host sends a PEC byte the device will check it. But if it does not send a PEC byte, it is okay.

Thanks for the quick help! I tried searching "packet error" and "checksum" and lots of other things but didn't think of looking for "PEC". Appreciate it.
