I have an application where I need the normal output level to be 5V. It is possible that in some instances the input voltage will drop to 4.5V. This may or may not be OK, depending on the IC behavior. If it keeps a duty cycle of 98% or so, which is almost bypass, and passes close to 3A that's OK. If not it will necessitate a more expensive solution. This design is VERY cost sensitive. I could not find a description of what happens in this range of input voltages.
