TPS5401: Main difference between TPS54040A?

Hi Team,

I wanted to check with you if there is any significant difference between our TPS5401 and TPS54040A other than the tighter enable voltage? Is there anything that we should be aware of or preference to use one part from the other?

cause it is old part, so I don't know difference from internal circuit. and from EC and function description, I think both no difference. but I suggest customer can choose our new generation synchronous buck converter like TPS560430, LMR50410 or LMR33610

Hello Alfred,

That application note seems valid for this device.

Syncing to external clock is not so challenge.

Main requirement is for device to have external sync pin.

Ie:

LMR36506.

LM63610

Any devices in this thread mentioned that have sync pin would work for this application. My preference would be the above two due to internal compensation.

I checked LM36506 but it seems to not have a sync or clock input pin to be used with an external clock. For the LM63610 on the other hand, I see that it is available only in automotive grade. Are we releasing a non-Q1 variant of this?

Hello Alfred,

LMR36506-Q1 comes with SYNC/MODE pin.

LM636xx only comes in qGrade orderables.

Hi Marshall,

Any specific reason why the non-Q1 version doesn't have the SYNC/MODE pin? Do you have other proposals that are not Q1 grade and has the SYNC pin?

Orderables are defined based on what we believe fulfills market demand.

I believe the devices mentioned would be the best option.

Hopefully they can be deemed acceptable.
