TPS2H000-Q1: Current limiting device for explosive environment

Part Number: TPS2H000-Q1

Hi Team,

A customer would like to use TPS2H000AQPWPRQ1 to limit the current to a sensor if a fault occurred where power to the sensor was shorted. As an example, he is providing 12v to a sensor that consumes 120mA. If the sensor supply pin are shorted he wanted the load switch to limit the current slightly higher than the normal maximum load. A high current spikes of 1A is not acceptable in their application because the device will be use in an explosive environment.

He is also looking for the waveform examples or confirmation that there are no current spikes or spike duration before current limit kicks in. Is this device appropriate for their application? If not, can you please suggest a device that best suit their requirements.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

Thank you very much for reaching out. HSS current limits will prevent any current from reaching higher values than the adjustable current limit condition. The current limit will trigger once a current above the current limit value is detected. The following application note will give you a deep dive for the advantages and specification of our adjustable current limit. Feel free to share this with the customer and let us know if any further questions. https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva859b/slva859b.pdf
