BQ51050B: Charging current and termination current

Part Number: BQ51050B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25100

Hi everyone,

I want to use the BQ51050B into my design. I have also selected a 80mAh LiPo battery and according to the datasheet there are available standard charge (0.2C => 0.2 * 80 = 16mA) and fast charge (0.5C => 0.5 * 80 = 40mA).

According to the datasheet the battery charging current limits (Ibulk see pg 8 of the datasheet) for the BQ51050B are 500 - 1500mA. Setting Ibulk to 500mA (that I suppose is the min. charging current available for BQ51050B) corresponds to >5C charging current and I am afraid that this could destroy or degrade the battery... Does it mean that I cannot use this charger with my battery? Please advice.

Find below the battery's datasheet:

Thanks

Nick
