TPS7A16-Q1: Differences between this part and TPS7A16 (non automotive grade)

Part Number: TPS7A16-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A16

Hi experts

Do TPS7A16-Q1 and TPS7A16 use the same die?

My customer is having availability issues with TPS7A16-Q1 and is considering substituting the non-Q1 part.

Thanks!

Jim B

  • Hi Jim,

Depending on your application, there are some differences to note between the parts:

    In the non Q1 version:

    - Enable cannot go as high as Vin, Max is at 40V (vs. Q1max = Vin)

    - Operating Junction Temperature Max is lower, Max is at 125C (vs. Q1max = 150C)

    - ESD parameters are different

    - Not qualified in accordance with AEC-Q100. [more information on AEC-Q100]

It does seem like both data sheets share the same output plots, so performance can be expected to be similar.

After looking at the FAB process, these two devices do not use the same die.

    Best,

    Juliette
