TPS2549-Q1: TPS2549-Q1 Apple certified charging failed

Part Number: TPS2549-Q1

Hi

TPS2549-Q1 in DCP mode, Apple charging certification failed.

The reason for the failure is that in the DCP mode, the charging information obtained by Apple is 2.4A. (is it because of divider3?)

MFI requires OCP to be at least 1.6 times greater than the nominal value of the charging current(2.4A*1.6=3.84A).

TPS2549-Q1 only supports a maximum of 3A, is there a way to make TPS2549-Q1 only get a charging current of 1.5A when the Apple device is in DCP mode.

  • Hi,

If you set the port to CDP mode the port is define to 1.5A and the max loading current should be 1.6*1.5A= 2.4A  then you can set the max limit at 2.7A to pass the MFi OCP test. If you port is set at DCP mode, the put can output 2.4A, then you can set the current limit above 3.84A to pass the test. TPS2549-Q1 can sustain the peak current in short time for the test.
