TPS2549: Recommend TPS2546 move to TPS2549 or not

Hi team,

Intel TBT4 docking reference design is using the TPS2546 but lead time is very long.

Do you recommend to move to the TPS2549?

If yes, any need to be careful for Intel TBT4 docking application?

Hello,

I recommend moving to the TPS2547 if it is available. It is pin to pin compatible with the TPS2546.

It looks like that TPS2547 is the best choice to replace TPS2546, but its lead time is very long too.

Therefore, I'm wonder that is it suitable to use TPS2549 in the Thunderbolt dock design or not ?

Hi Alan,

Yes the TPS2549 does have similar functionality. Please evaluate which charging modes your customer needs to ensure that the TPS2549 has it. It does not have every charging mode that the TPS2546 has.
