UCC28780: Can UCC28780 used other switch rather than GaN?

We want to change super junction MOSFET to cascode GaN FET in PMP40328 reference design. The set pin should GND or REF?

Dear Hong;

Cascode GaN FET is hybrid with a Si LV MOSFET and a high voltage depletion mode GaN HEMT. Its structure like as the following:

We replace the SJ MOSFET with the above cascode GaN FET.

Is it at low side and D connecting to transformer, right? Is the high side a single Si MOSFET?

We suggest tie SET to REF which is better to have UCC28780 work with UCC27712.

You can use a 0-ohm resistor to connect SET to REF so you have an easy way to tie SET to GND in case you like to see difference.
